Interferential Current Therapy at
Axelson Chiropractic Health Center

What is Interferential Current Therapy?

Interferential Current Therapy (IFC) is a non-invasive, electrical muscle stimulation technique offered at Axelson Chiropractic Health Center. By using IFC, we can increase blood circulation within a specific area, leading to faster healing, reduced inflammation and swelling, and targeted pain relief. Similar to a TENS unit, IFC stimulates nerve endings; however, it penetrates deeper into the tissue using a higher frequency.

Who Can Benefitt?

IFC is recommended to all our patients after their chiropractic adjustments. It is not condition-specific and can assist in managing a wide range of issues. Whether you’re dealing with arthritis, sciatica, headaches/migraines, joint pain/stiffness, back pain, muscle weakness or spasms, or circulatory issues, IFC can support your recovery.

Preparing for Care

Patients preparing for IFC simply need to wear pants or shorts underneath dresses/skirts. There is no additional paperwork required.

When a new patient receives IFC at Axelson Chiropractic Health Center, they will be taken to our therapy room. Our chiropractic assistants, who are skilled in IFC procedures, will guide them through the process. Patients will receive a comprehensive yet easily understandable explanation of IFC and what sensations to expect. We often liken the feeling to when your arm or foot falls asleep. The chiropractic assistant will then carefully place electrodes on the patient and initiate the IFC while providing step-by-step narration.

Coverage and Fees for Interferential Current Therapy

For insurance-covered patients, there is an additional fee of $15. This cost is discounted from the regular price as insurance typically does not cover IFC. For cash patients, IFC is included in the set cash price price.
